A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to work with an amazing makeup artist, Angela Pethig, along with a lovely model Jordan. The plan was to do some Black and White portraits and we managed a variety of different looks using found material and objects. Most images were processed as monochrome but some looked good in colour as well :-)
I love old movies and the look of film noir, a few months ago I worked with the lovely Rebecca Noir and makeup up artists Khaela Scott to have a play with the genre.
A trip to the beach can be quite dramatic when the storm clouds roll in.
In between showers on the Isle of Skye, looking across at the Raasay and Rona from half way up to the Old Man of Storr.
A long exposure shot of the Pancake Rocks at Punakaiki, the water was surging in towards high tide.
Kaikoura at sunset, but take away the colours and the textures in the sea and rocks are still lovely.
The lovely Siobhan was kind enough to model for me a few weeks ago, I liked the motion produced by the veil I liked this image, to me it gives the feeling of being trapped by the veil and with the wedding dress an interesting combination.
Early morning at Lake Tekapo, one of my favourite places, I liked the paddleboarder on the lake.
Not the best conditions for sunset at the Moeraki Boulders but always an interesting place,
I have visited the Moeraki Boulders a few times but the last time I visited was on the way home from Dunedin and in the middle of the day. Not the best time for images but I still liked this one.
These are the lovely MacLean Falls in the Catlins, plenty of water on the day I was there.
Walking in the forest at Karamea looking for details I saw this.
No more snow I think this year so this is from Castle Hill ago, shooting into the sun.
Amazing waves hitting the rocks and cliffs at Scotts Beach north of Karamea.
Strong blacks and whites in this from Magnet Bay and lots of foam being thrown up - and over my camera and lens!
A trip to a new part of Banks Peninsula this weekend, this was taken at Magnet Bay. Lots of interesting rocks, well worth a few more trips I think.
A tree above Port Levy, the direction of the prevailing wind is quite clear!
A twig growing out of the snow, I liked the contrast and simplicity.
An old pier on the Onawe Peninsula in Duvauchelle Bay. Not a cloud in the sky and the water was very calm.
Lovely fresh snow at Castle Hill, this was a little before sunset and the rocks were casting long shadows.
